The brightness of the pink pepper combined with the citrus and lemongrass aromas of the combava (a type of lime). These dance together with the notes of red fruit of the chocolate, to create a refreshing moment.
The image is a portrait of a Betsimisaraka woman (“Many Lovebirds”). The Betsimisaraka are the largest group on the east coast of Madagascar, a region with large tropical rains. It consists of lush vegetation and successive lagoons connected by the Pangalanes Channel. The many trading posts have led the local population to develop export crops (vanilla, pepper, cloves, lychee, etc.). Their traditional home is built from plant material, including the “Ravenala” (or “Traveler’s Tree”).
